Sustainably Made in England.

Be part of the anti-landfill movement by choosing our handcrafted ceramics, homeware and gifts.

At Denby, we have been crafting versatile, beautiful and durable made-to-last ceramics for over 200 years on the same site in Derbyshire, England, always subscribing to the ethos of 'buy well, buy once'.

And it's never been more important to make smart choices when it comes to buying homewares; ensuring we learn the lessons of fast-fashion, and find ways to buy well, repurpose the old, celebrate vintage and do good things with items which no longer suit our needs.

Sustainably made to last.

There are many ways to ensure ceramics and homeware don't end up in landfill, and at Denby we are proudly leading the charge, with our sustainably made collections and ideas on what to do with the old. We're not perfect yet, and there's always more we can all do, but we think our ceramics come close.

Latest sustainability news.

We have installed a 2 MW solar array just behind our pottery which will help us reduce our CO2 emissions by 475 tonnes each year. The solar park is already supplying a good proportion of our electricity needs around the pottery and our site. Our solar park is one of the many initiatives underway on our pathway to 'Net Zero 2050'.

Our sustainably made credentials.

Caring for the environment and the planet that we live on is very important to us and we are continually working towards living and working more sustainably by making positive changes to lessen our impact. We are proudly the first UK tableware manufacturer to be able to claim ‘zero to landfill’ for all our process waste. In addition, we employ an Environmental Officer to ensure that Denby is constantly looking at ways to improve our sustainable approach.

Zero to landfill.
We use clay from the doorstep enabling minimal transportation of our main raw material and have Zero to Landfill on our process waste. As an entire organisation have less than 1% on all other waste.
Recycled clay.
The areas of land from where our clay is extracted are returned to pasture and landscaped. Because our quality standards are so high, any clay with faults is recycled, which equates to 550 tonnes of raw clay a year.
Recycled water.
We have our own water treatment plant and each year we purify and return to the water cycle 20 million litres of process water.
Recycled glaze.
Every year we recycle over 100,000 litres of glaze during the glazing process to efficiently re-use our resources.
Recycled food waste.
We recycle all of our food waste produced in our restaurants and the staff canteen to be turned into energy.
Energy saving.
We continuously watch our energy consumption, with our gas and energy consumption reduced year on year. We are continually installing energy saving lighting systems and optimising the gas usage in our kilns.
Recyclable packaging.
Most Denby is sold without packaging, but where it is requested by customers it is recyclable. Any incoming packaging is recycled and has been sourced responsibly. We are also investigating using alternative materials to create box-fill packing instead of plastic air-fill.
Versatile & multi-functional.

Every Denby piece has been designed to work in your home. Our mugs fit under coffee machines and cereal bowls have been measured to fit two Weetabix side by side: there's detail in every Denby design.

From the kitchen and dining room, to the bedroom and bathroom, Denby can be used in every room.

Made to last.
Our hardy glazes will protect against everyday wear and tear and look stylish and beautiful for many years to come. One set can be used everyday and for special occasions, indoors and out, and is safe for use in the oven, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. You can confidently use it to cook, serve and store food, and when you might otherwise use a disposable plate or cup.

Denby Reloved.

Denby is proudly part of the anti-landfill movement and we are dedicated to helping you find the best ways to consciously make use of older, unwanted or imperfect homeware products. Our 'Denby Reloved' campaign encourages the nation to think more purposefully about their homeware to help reduce the number of items going to landfill, and gives ideas and inspiration on how to relove, donate, repurpose and put these items to good use.

The Concious Choice for your home.

There many reasons to choose Denby; maybe because it's versatile, beautiful and durable, because it's styled by life and made to last with a 10 year guarantee, because your Granny had it, because of our sustainability credentials...But what Denby lovers tell us most, is that all of that is a given, and that what really makes us stand out is the fact that we craft 'feel-good' ceramics. Items to love and cherish, to gift and to share moments around, in the knowledge you have made a truly conscious choice for your home.
